Home Remedies for Kidney Stone

  1. Soak 250 gms of horse gram (kulath) in 3 kg of water at night. Heat it slowly in the morning for at least 4 hours and when one kilo is left, remove from the flame. Now warm 30-50 gms of clarified butter and add that one kilo with horse gram in it. Add some black salt, black pepper, cumin seeds and turmeric in the ghee. Drink this soup once in the afternoon at 12 P.M. instead of having lunch. At least drink 250 gms. The stone will come out by itself in one or two weeks after being broken into pieces.

  2. Drink this water daily. It has no side effects.
    • If after drinking soup a person is not able to control hunger then one chapatti can be taken.
    • It is also helpful in inflammation of kidneys.
    • Also helpful in backache. If the horse gram recipe is prepared and taken daily along with chapatti, the kidney stone will be broken into pieces and passed along with urine. It increases lubrication in the bones.
    • Indications: cucumber, watermelon seeds, radish, Indian gooseberry, pineapple, mung, barley and 6-8 glasses of plain water should be taken along with this treatment.
    • Contraindications: tomatoes, rice, dry fruits, chocolates, tea, alcohol, nonvegetarian food, lady's finger. Do not retain urine and do not sit continuously in one position.
    • Horse gram removes extra vata and kapha and stops its accumulation. It stops the formation and reformation of stones because it has both qualities of excessive urination and breaking of stones.
    • Its regular use decreases fat, as it is also helpful in liver and spleen problems.
  3. Soak 50 gms horse gram seeds in 250 gms of water at night. Boil in the morning. When 100 gms of water is left stop heating it and make the person drink it when it is warm. Drink twice a day, morning and evening, and the stones will disintegrate.
    • It is a long procedure of 4 to 6 months.
    • After drinking the water make a recipe of the rest of the horse gram by adding ghee with salt, turmeric and cumin seeds and eat chapatti. This will help in the treatment. Clean the seeds of horse gram with a soft cloth and keep them in a plastic bag. Now keep in a tin or glass vessel.
  4. Grapes and litchi are good sources of potassium and sodium and good for both kidney and gall-stone.
  5. Carrot, cucumber and beetroot juice taken together dissolve the kidney stone gradually if taken regularly.
  6. Powder of peels of muskmelon (start from half teaspoon and increase to two) taken daily with water relieves kidney pain.
  7. For associated treatments see hints on Urinary Ailments.
  8. Sugarcane juice, coconut water and barley water are all helpful in relieving almost all urinary ailments.

For making horse gram (kulath) water
