Nail Fungus Overview

Nail fungus is also known as Onychomycosis or Unquim which is a nail infection of the fingernails and the toenails. They are caused by discoloration, thickening and softening of the nails. Unfortunately, there has not been any effective Nail Fungus Removal as the infection is very difficult to treat and may often cause permanent damage to the fingernails and even nail loss.

Nail fungus is made up of tiny organisms (Tinea Unguium) that can infect fingernails and toenails. The nails of our fingers and toes are very effective defense. This defense makes it quite difficult for any external infection to invade the nail. Once an infection has set in however, the same barrier that was so effective in protecting us against infection now works against us, making it difficult to treat the infection.

Fungal nails could possibly be the most common foot problem in the world. It is also one of the least talked about. People who have no problem talking about their bunions or heel pain sometimes cringe to even think about their thick, brownish-yellow nails. What these people need is a perfect drug: a medicine taken for a very short time, with nearly no side effects, interacts with few medications, causes no damage to their bodies and works for a very long time. To the aid of those battling with fungal nails, such treatment may finally exist.

Nail fungus is completely horrible and unfortunately with the new strands today, it is even harder to remove it. Luckily though, there are tons of things you can try. Always follow these tips to help protect against foot fungus, and how to remove it all together.

Cut toenails as low as possible – Trim your toe-nails down as low as you can without hurting or cutting too close to the sensitive skin area.

Use Listerine foot baths because vinegar may not work depending on the fiber of foot fungus. I have heard from a lot of people that Listerine foot baths work well – however keep in mind for any foot bath you need to soak your feet in there for at least 20-30 minutes/day for a number of weeks

Types of Nail Fungus Removals

Tea tree oil

One of the most effective home remedies for nail fungus removal, tea tree oil can make a nail healthy in two to three months. The trick to using this remedy is to apply it on the affected nail two to three times a day. Tea tree oil should be applied after a shower so dirt and buildup on the nail will not block the oil from going into the nail bed.

Vinegar

As one of the most powerful nail fungus removals, vinegar is a semi acid that makes it an effective nail fungus removal agent. Not only does it burn off the fungus, it also stops fungus from growing. This means that not only do you cure your nail fungus; you also prevent it from spreading. When you are applying vinegar, spread it on the nail and the nail bed.

Vicks Vaporub

Sounds unorthodox but a lot of people swear by this remedy. Like vinegar and tea tree oil, you must rub Vicks Vaporub all over your nail.
