Home Remedies for Scabies

1. A skin condition caused by a variety of tiny bugs, it is very common with those who are unclean. It easily spreads to others in contact with the infected. It affects hairless areas; because infants and children have less hair it spreads over their entire body. The itching is more noticeable at nights. The bugs cause intense itching of the fingers, wrists, breasts, waist and portions of the genitalia. The itching is so intense that small water blisters that are formed may be scratched until they bleed and form scabs.
2. Apply lotions containing gamma benzene hexachloride or sulphur, available in the market under trade names such as scabiol and gammascab. These should be applied on the whole skin below the neck at night. All the red bumps should be scratched before application.
3. In the morning all bed sheets, bed covers, towels and patient's clothing should be boiled in water, washed and dried in the sun.
4. All affected persons should be treated together. The lotion should be applied to all on the same night.
5. Hands of children should be tied with a cloth so that they may not put their fingers in the mouth otherwise the lotion will enter the mouth and cause problems.
6. Even if a single bug is left in the house it will give rise to many others.
