Home Remedies for Cystitis (Inflammation of the urethra or urinary passage)

  1. After defecation clean the anal-genital area from front to back to avoid spreading germs from the anus.
  2. Wear cotton pants and avoid tights and tight trousers.
  3. Wash the area down below with swabs and water twice a day and never use vaginal deodorants or bubble baths.
  4. Ensure adequate vaginal lubrication before intercourse, for example, KY Jelly.
  5. Empty the bladder after 15 minutes of intercourse to wash any germs that may have entered the urethra.
  6. Drink plenty of fluids to dear the urinary passage of germs.
  7. All the treatment explained in Burning while passing urine can be applied here too.
  8. Passing urine immediately after taking food prevents diseases of the kidney, liver and back. Many other problems like gout are also prevented.

Regular practice of asanas (yogic exercise), especially Padhastasana, helps relieve you from this problem.

Padhastasana

  • Stand relaxed with feet slightly apart.
  • Keep your backbone and shoulders straight.
  • Now raise both the arms upwards, keeping them parallel to each other with palms facing forward.
  • Start bending forward from the lower part of your back while inhaling. While doing this keep your head parallel to your arms and do not bend your knees.
  • Bend as far as possible and try to touch your feet with your hands.
  • After a few seconds revert back to the standing posture.
  • Repeat this asana 5-6 times at short intervals.
