Home Remedies for Common Cold
- Create high humidity by running hot water in a bathroom with closed doors and windows or boiling a kettle of water in a room. This is very effective in the case of deposited mucous layers and sinusitis. It liquefies the plugs of mucous and opens the pores, thus providing relief.
- Steam with Vicks or Karvol is equally effective.
- A warm drink soothes the entire respiratory tract.
- Make a powder of Borax kheel (heat Borax in an iron vessel so that it spreads and store in a bottle. Take half a gram of this in warm water at least thrice a day.
- Boil 7 black peppers and 7 sugar balls in 250 gms of water. When one-fourth wa is left, stop boiling. Drink hot and cover the entire body for ten minutes. Do! twice a day, morning and night. If fever accompanies cold, add seven leave~ holy basil in the boiling water.
Nasal blockage in common cold
Take 10 gms of Sprague in a clean cloth and tie all ends of the cloth (bind the portion of Sprague with a rubber band). Heat this cloth in a vessel. Now sniff this. Nasal: blockage is cleared by this method.

Procedure
- It takes time until one learns this posture. Be patient and first check out the for doing asanas in the Daily Healthy Way Hints chapter.
- Lie down on your back with both hands at the sides and legs together.
- Slowly raise your legs as you did for the raised-leg posture.
- When your legs are at right angles to your body stay for a few seconds like this and then slowly bring your legs towards your head.
- Your waist will be slightly raised in this process.
- Now put your hands on your back to provide support.
- Now straighten your legs and with the support of the hands straighten the entire body.
- Your head, shoulders and arms from shoulder to elbows should touch the floor.
- The rest of the body should point straight up in the air.
- The posture should be such that your chin touches the chest.
- Stay in this asana as long as you can comfortably.
- To come back to your normal position bend your legs forward towards the head.
- Remove your hands from the back and gradually descend towards the ground.
