Home Remedies for Cataract

This occurs in old age. For prevention of cataract make a mixture of onion juice 10 gms, thin honey 10 gms, Borneo camphor (Latin name, Dryobalanops aromatica) 2 gms. Mix all of these and keep the mixture in a glass bottle. Apply at night with a thin glass rod in the eyes to stop the growth of cataract.

Myopia or Far-sightedness

1. Take almonds, fennel and sugar candy in equal amounts. Grind them to form a powder and keep this in a glass container. Chew 10 gms daily at night with 250 gms of milk. Don't take water for two hours after taking this mixture.
2. Mix small pieces of emblica myrobalan, chebulic myrobalan and belliric myrobalan and store this in a glass bottle in the ratio of 1:2:4 respectively. Immerse one teaspoonful of this mixture called triphala in water in a glass or clay vessel in the evening. Mash it in the morning and wash the eyes with the top portion of water.
3. Fill a green bottle with water and keep it in the sun for one day (from one morning till the next morning, so that it cools down). Wash your eyes regularly with this water.
4. Take carrots and tomatoes regularly.
5. During the mango season, eat at least 100 gms of mangoes daily. Mangoes are a very good source of vitamin A and calcium. This is required in good amounts for children and adolescents who are under stress of studies.
6. Apply mustard oil in the soles of both feet daily at night.
